Mercedes-Benz plans to unveil a new electric sub-brand at the Paris motor show in September, aimed squarely at BMW’s i brand. Bloomberg reports Mercedes will kick things off with two SUVs and two sedans in the brand’s lineup, vehicles the automaker has been working on for the past couple years.
Apparently, though, Mercedes still hasn’t chosen a name for its electric car division, even though the Paris motor show is just weeks away.
What we know so far is that one of the SUVs will be a Tesla Model X competitor with a range of 310 miles on a full charge. This SUV is expected to use some GLC-Class bits and may adopt a more crossover-style shape. Expect to see it in Paris right away, close to how it will appear in production form when it goes on sale in 2017.
